Employers like Cisco recognize the many valuable skills veterans bring to the workforce (i.e. teamwork and leadership skills, the ability to learn quickly and work under pressure, a strong work ethic and dedication to the mission). However, service members often find it difficult to translate their experience into civilian employment requirements. To help meet this challenge, Cisco sponsors an annual Veteran’s Career Transition Day (VCTD) which enables transitioning service members, veterans, spouses and caregivers to learn about best practices, tips, personal stories and other resources available to help them with the transition to civilian careers.
You will attend several sessions hosted by Cisco, other partner companies/organizations and volunteer speakers and panelists throughout the day (8:30a – ~1:00p). They will provide time-relevant advice and essential tips about your military transition or your latest career change. Topics will include: how to create your “brand” in the market, interviewing tips, career training/certification, personal career transition stories and career coaching organizations. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with the speakers and other people who are making, or have made, the same transition.
